Current Mood: monstrous  & playful

Did you see the lunar eclipse tonight? I hope so — there won’t be another total lunar eclipse until 2011!

I stood outside in the brisk winter air, watching the moon as it waned into a glowing orange orb. The cleansing fresh air…the glowing orange moon…gazing up at the stars and the moon…it all had me joyfully dreaming of future possibilities. I even saw a shooting star — that’s a wish, you know! It was too friggin’ cold to stay outside the whole time, but I did step outside or gaze out the window regularly to check on it. Ah, what a beautiful night…magical, even.

Yes it’s true, Jan and I are the keepers of a lovebird named “Bird”. Jan’s friend Micah moved to NYC and needed a new owner for bird (at least that’s his story). In steps Jan — voila! When I arrived home, I thought we were temporarily pet-sitting. Surprise! So now the cat Romeo has a friend to stalk and harass, which he loves to do.

Bird is a cranky bird sometimes and likes to try to nip fingers. But she can be sweet too (well, sweet for her!) and did I mention loud? She likes to chirp, especially when she hears other birds. When the cat’s outside, I let her out of the cage and she usually flies over and sits on the top of my head, then hops on my keyboard and gives my fingers the evil eye for a little while. She loves to explore with her beak, which sometimes means bites and nips. We’re trying to re-train her but it’s very slooooow going.

In honor of Jack the Eagle’s birthday tomorrow (February 8), I made a present for all my friends from the workcamp in Affligem, Belgium August 2005. I uploaded the photos/videos from our reunion in 2006 (ok, better late than never). You can find a direct link here: 2006 Affligem Reunion
