Romeo faceRomeo had been buried and mourned for. Our beloved pet, Romey the cat, was discovered dead while I was in Dublin and Jan was in Florida. Turns out, while we were mourning and missing Romeo for 5-6 weeks, he’d been locked in a friend’s basement with no food and water!

Romeo looking upApparently his caretaker Laurie had found a different dead cat that looked similar, so she buried him/her thinking it was Romey. When Jan returned from holidays a couple of weeks ago, she heard a cat meowing in the friend’s basement.

Romeo couchYou can imagine Jan’s surprise when she found her beloved Romeo, and my surprise when she brought him home! It was a real shocker. He’d been locked in the basement for 5+ weeks with no food and water! Somehow he’d managed to survive — mice? a miracle?

I dedicated a photo album to him: Romeo the Miracle Kitty We’re so happy he’s alive! Romey’s a sweet kitty. Only 8 lives to go…
